Dr. Olabisi Ogunro is a hand surgeon
at Ogunro Hand to Shoulder Center. She
joined DCMS in 2018 when she returned
to Texas to practice with her father, Dr.
Olayinka Ogunro, and sister, Dr. Charity
Ogunro. Dr. Ogunro is board certified in
general surgery with fellowship training
in hand surgery, which is the focus of her

practice. “The quote that inspires me the
most is ‘The best is yet to come,’” she
says. “It allows one to realize that through
all the hardships one may endure in life,
the future is always bright.”
Carolyn Evans, MD, FAAP
SPECIALTY: Pediatrics
DCMS MEMBER SINCE: 1982
Dr. Carolyn Evans has been an active
DCMS member for 39 years and has held
many leadership positions within the society.
Those roles include, but are not limited
to, serving on the AMA Advisory Committee
on Minorities from 1994 to 1998, the
AMA Council on Long Range Planning and
Development from 2002 to 2008 (Chair;
2006-2008), becoming the first minority
TMA chair of the board in 2010, as well as
becoming the second minority president,
second woman president, and first minority
woman president for Dallas County Medical
Society in 2001. “It has been my honor
to serve the physicians of this city, this
state, and this nation and to add some
color,” said Dr. Evans. “I have provided a
voice for the voiceless. I have spoken for
young physicians, for women physicians,
for minority physicians. I am encouraged
that there are now more voices.”
Dornechia George Carter, MD
SPECIALTY: Dermatology
DCMS MEMBER SINCE: 2018
Dr. Dornechia George Carter is the
founder and medical director of the newly
opened Affinity Dermatology, a comprehensive
medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology
office in Frisco. She is a graduate
of Cornell University and Baylor College
of medicine, first as a Diversity Scholar,
and then as the first Black resident in the
school’s Department of Dermatology. She
is the immediate past president of the C.
V. Roman Medical Society, the Dallas-Ft.
Worth Chapter of the National Medical Association.
Outside of medicine, she is an
active member of the Greater Frisco Chapters
of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.,
and Jack and Jill of America. One of her
favorite quotes is from Dr. Martin Luther
King, who said, “Our lives begin to end the
day that we become silent about the things
that matter.” Through her organizations,
outreach, and medical practice, she hopes
to always use her voice to bolster those
in need and to celebrate Black history all
year long.
Phyllis Gee, MD, FACOG
SPECIALTY: Dermatology
DCMS MEMBER SINCE: 1988
In practice for more than 30 years, Dr.
Phyllis Gee has been nationally recognized
for her involvement in clinical research
in women’s health, helping to advance
treatment options for uterine fibroids
and endometriosis. She has presented
on numerous topics in women’s health
but is most passionate about raising
the awareness about hereditary cancer
syndromes, especially hereditary breast
and ovarian cancer, having lost her mother
to breast cancer at an early age. Dr. Gee
has also developed a comprehensive
cardiometabolic program which focuses
on addressing metabolic disorders
like obesity, prediabetes, diabetes,
nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and
metabolic syndrome to prevent the many
complications that often accompany many
