OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this program, participants will
be able to:
• discuss statistics and closed claim examples
related to the opioid epidemic;
• describe the CDC opioid prescribing guidelines
for both acute and chronic pain;
• summarize ways to limit TMB complaints and
liability exposure when prescribing opioids; and
• identify patients who exhibit manipulative
behaviors and how to effectively handle drugseeking
patients.
FACULTY
Brett B. Rowe, JD is a founding shareholder with
Evans, Rowe & Holbrook, PC, Attorneys at Law,
based in San Antonio, Texas. He graduated from
The University of Texas at Austin in 1985 with a
Bachelor’s of Business Administration and graduated
magna cum laude from St. Mary’s University School
of Law in 1991. Mr. Rowe specializes in the defense
of medical malpractice, general negligence claims,
and medical board complaints, and has also served
as a hearing officer for hospital peer review issues.
